Most of last year, if you saw me around town, I was in a baseball hat, and a sweatshirt and jeans and covered in paint. Or dirt. Then, toward the fall I got tired. Really tired. So I quit painting. And rolling around in the dirt.
Until today.
I had the sudden urge to work on something. So I started on the bakers pantry. I’ve always wanted an awesome pantry in my house…. and this one has it. I love it. Though……it was REALLY ugly when we moved in. And besides replacing the counter top in there, I haven’t done anything. I moved in, wiped the shelves down, threw stuff in there, and have lived that way for a while now.
But I couldn’t take it anymore. It was bothering me. And once I get bothered, it has to be fixed. IMMEDIATELY.
In old houses… there are layers. Layers upon layers upon layers. Which I love to peel away. The insides of the cupboards were painted brown and pink and had some green and yellow, etc. I…of course, wanted it white. I like white. I have come to accept that in my old age… I really like white. So I covered the bottom layers with white. (Well off white to be exact)
And I love it. I took the cupboard doors off and left them off. So it’s open on that one side. Oh and I found an awesome spice holder for the baking spices. I wouldn’t want it out on my countertop or anything, but I love it in there. It fit perfectly with what I wanted to do in there.
Now… only 3/4 left of it to go!
What a great space! I’m thinking of ripping one wall of cupboards out and replacing with a couple of shelves for dishes, etc. I think it will make our kitchen appear larger. I’m like you, in that once it’s in my mind, I have to do it very soon.
Oooh, can’t wait to see the finished project! Super fun!
Where did you find those awesome spice holders?
I got it at Bed Bath and Beyond. I was planning on getting the same one Kev got me for the cooking spices, but this was nice and compact. It’s pretty slick. Made of plastic though.
It’s looking amazing! I can’t wait to see the whole thing. Love all of the jars, of course. And the basket. And the white. Actually, it reminds me of my pantry, even the old wallpaper! Love it. 🙂
