Well, I took the advice of the ever so famous song…. I can’t really say that I’m raising a cowboy. However, while he’s little, letting him dip his toes into the manure isn’t going to hurt anything. Adventures and experiences are what it’s all about right?
We muttin busted last night for the first time. The Laramie County Fair lets kids up to 60lbs and I believe 8 years old, ride sheep. This year 100 little ones got in on the action. Dino Dude was #15. My little one did NOT want to wear cowboy boots as he thought they would hurt when he fell off the sheep. So in his cowboy gear and Nike’s he went. He was joined (thanks to my wonderful friend and her husband for standing in line for an hour an a half to get them signed up!) by my sweet Little Miss Sunshine and her adorable brother.
The three of them prepared by riding their parents backs. I let my husband do most of the preparing.
And some little cowgirl, could have really used a belt…..but then we wouldn’t get to see how cute this is!!!
Then the bustin’ started. My little man hang on pretty tight, but got a little sideways on that big ol’ sheep. He made it a little while. I was proud of him. He was not super impressed with the whole ordeal, but he was happy he at least tried it. He can cross it off his list now!
Now, Little Miss Sunshine on the other hand…..she rode that sheep until it rammed her into the sideboard. And even then she didn’t fall off! The clown kind of made her. It was awesome. Her mamma was sooooo proud of her, it brought her to tears. Mamma’s get that way sometimes. It was fun to watch our tough little girl kick some serious sheep tush.
And the little one….he had a great showing as well.
So proud of all my cowkids! Maybe next year we’ll try pig wrestling!
I think though, for now, we are all cowboy-ed out here in this old house. So happy trails all.
My b-day is 2-15! Love that picture!
