The Creative Adult is the Child that Survived

I read that somewhere this week. It’s a good way to look at things. Though, I don’t think creativity is the only way to keep your inner child alive. It’s only one way.

The dino dude and I did a small project yesterday after school. Our projects are not as frequent as they used to be, as let’s face it, making things out of paper plates and macaroni isn’t as exciting as  it used to be. He’s always been an older soul and with that older soul, comes an accelerated mind. He keeps me on my toes.

None-the-less, we took a little stroll in front of the capital yesterday, where all the different kinds of trees live. We chose our favorite leaves and brought them home.  I had a piece of  foam board, that was paintable. So we painted. I wanted to keep it simple. (The older I get, the more simple I like things. ) I held the leaves, he painted carefully.

I also read this article about being a mom looking for more positive ways to handle the “weeds” in the lives of our children. It was good. And I don’t think there is a mom out there that has perfect days, every day. Very good post. So even though I had paint all over my table and clothes (weeds), I got to spend time with my kiddo, letting his creative juices flow. (Flowers)
