So, I decided to celebrate the 12 days of Christmas. I wasn’t quite sure how I was going to do that, and I’m still not really sure how I’m going to do that, we’ll figure out something awesome everyday. But hey, we got the first day down!!
So this summer, I found something amazing. Something I never ever played with as a child, but had heard of. I just didn’t really give it a second thought. And then my son picked up a box of Shrinky Dink paper, unused at a garage sale this summer. And I’m not kidding, we spent two straight days shrinky dinking. It’s one of the most amazing mediums I have ever seen. It’s like art and science all put together. A-MAZ-ING. After I pulled myself away from it, I vowed that I would use it again at Christmas, so I kicked off the 12 days of Christmas by making a Twelve Days of Christmas Banner. But I couldn’t stop at that, I needed something whimsical to wear for the season… so I made a couple necklaces. Seriously people, it took 5 minutes to make these. It’s a really, really fun thing to do with your kids and it doesn’t have to take all day, plus, the little one that says “believe” is his handwriting. I love having memories of his handwriting.
Also, since it the first day of Christmas and it’s all about pear trees, I would suggest making this pear and caramelized onion bread. I had intended to have it made today, but it just didn’t happen. Try it, it’s also amazing.
