On the eleventh day the pipers were piping and I had the choice of either teaching my kiddos to play the recorder or doing a science experiment. And lets just say, the thought of the recorder playing the same song over and over and over and over kind of lost big to science. We had actually done this before but it is pretty awesome, so not sharing would be a shame. The process is really easy. Put 3 tablespoons of borax and mix it with 1 cup boiling water into a glass. Shape your pipe cleaners into snowflakes and then tie a string to the top. Wrap the string around a pencil and hang it in the water. Let set over night and your crystals should be formed by morning. It’s a pretty awesome and easy experiment!
