The May Day Reject

First things first: HAPPY MAY DAY! Thank goodness there was no snow today. I think I might have pulled my hair out this morning if there had been snow on the ground. The white stuff really brings me down this time of year. Today there was sun. It was still brisk, but there was sun and that’s what matters.

Oh and my tulips are blooming this year. It’s the first year I’ve seen blooms since I planted them.

Yes they are red, and yes they match my house and the roof.  Most of my flowers are red and match my house. It’s got to do with the whole analytical side of my brain, and probably a little bit of color blindness problem (dark blue and purple flowers just don’t do it for me. ) You should see my closets if you think that’s ridiculous.

Anyway, yesterday we made May baskets. Just a few. Just for fun. Trying to keep the tradition alive. I remember vividly giving them to my older neighbors when I was a kid. Especially to a woman named Helen, whom I adored. Well, my son tried give one of ours away to one of our elderly neighbors and he rejected it.

That’s right. Someone rejected a May basket from a child.

One with cookies in it.

Really tasty cookies.

What???

In my neighbor’s defense, he has a million grandkids who all just brought him easter candy…so he said he was good. Dino Dude could keep it.  So all is good, and we got to eat the cookies (which were in my son’s words, something he could just eat all day long…from a kid who doesn’t love sweets.)

Here’s to a beautiful May everyone.
