We finally had a warm day here on the plains and I got to spend a little bit of that warm day with a couple of my favorite little ones.
People often ask why I don’t shoot weddings. Why I choose families and babies and commercial work. In fact I’ve had that question asked more of me in the last month than I ever have really.
My answer is easy.
I get more than one day with them.
I get to see them when they aren’t at their best sometimes. And I get to know them over years and years and years and I get to make some of the best friends I have because of my camera. I get to talk to them and ride the ride with them sometimes. Family dynamics change. Kids are forever. And sometimes an afternoon of pictures is only a side note to catch up with people I become invested with, in their lives. I get to chat and talk and tell them all the things their kids are doing to drive them crazy is totally normal. I get to see couples go from newly weds to parents and pro parents at that. I get to be part of the big picture in a small, but rewarding way.
To all my families… thank you for letting be a little part of it all.
