This might not look like much….
But this…. took a lot of work.
The floors in my bathroom were getting to the point of grossness . Yellow discoloration. Curling iron burns in the linoleum (can’t say who did that……)
So of course, right in the middle of busy season, I decided I needed to rip the floor up and tile it. While I was at it, I replaced the sink and toilet. I’ve been wanting for 7 years a sink that had enough room to hold a coffee cup and my curling iron. Without having to put either of them in the sink. Little life goals. The tiles were long and harder to cut. It took me twice as long to get through them because I have a small cutter (which I’m totally fine with, because I’m comfortable with it.) The cast iron tub was a bit of a nightmare to move, but manageable, and it sat in middle of the living room for a week. Normal right?
But I went 9 days without getting to take a bath.
I think that might be the longest I have ever gone. (I’m not a shower girl, I know weird, but I can’t help it.)
And I love the light in the bathroom in the mornings. It’s perfect. And perfect for baths with a cup of hot coffee. Or ice cream (the only place I really like to eat ice cream is in the bath tub… so I don’t get cold!)
I worked as much as I could between shoots. And I had my little dude help where I thought he could. He ended up grouting most of the floor. It’s important for me to instill in him that physical labor is not above anyone. And it’s good for you. And it makes you way more proud of the end product if you do it yourself. All the things I’ve done in this house… I had no idea how to do. I had to learn as I went. Make mistakes. And not get mad when something didn’t work. And something doesn’t work every single time. There are so many life lessons when doing these things. It’s one of my happy places. In dirty torn up pants doing things I never thought I would or could do.
