This is the phrase I repeat to myself one million times a day.
I’m Ok.
I had not intended to make this public, but writing once is better than 1000 times. I am for sure not looking for sympathy, just putting information out there.
Turns out grabbing a pan of coconut oil that has caught fire, and throwing it out in the back yard can cause a few problems.
It was a split reaction.
Not the right one.
But it was my reaction none the less.
I’m am so very lucky this is what happened and not more.
I have second degree burns covering the entirety of the top of my hand and all my fingers. First degree burns up my arm. The care I have been given here in Cheyenne and at the Greeley Burn Center have been beyond amazing. Especially the nurses. Burn nurses are extremely special people and I can’t thank them enough. It was surreal to sit down in an ER and have a normal conversation with someone while they are slowly removing all the skin from my hand. But it happened. And I left reassured that I will be OK.
I am healing quickly and will be back working on Sunday with regular sessions. If you are waiting for pictures, or answered emails or texts, I just ask that you please be patient. I am learning to use my fingers again (which movement is good for them as to avoid any surgeries, but it also takes a lot to do this, the picture above is part of my therapy.)
I expect to be back to pretty much normal in a months time. I have learned my own strength through this. Mentally and physically. And I know it will make me stronger in the end.
In the meantime. Don’t be a distracted cooker.
Thank you for all the support and love and light.
Stacey, my name is Terri Tigert – I am Brady’s processor, he told me what had happened to you and I am so glad that you did post this, as he said you were not going to. I check your blog a lot as I love your wonderful stories. You are so amazing and talented. I noticed that you stop making the jewelry or at least did not have any in your inventory for awhile, but see you do now, so I will be putting an order in. I wanted to send you a card and may still as I like doing that kind of thing, just something to make you smile. I am glad you are on the mend and you are in my thoughts and prayers.
Thank you so much Terri! Really appreciate your thoughts and prayers and yes, all the jewelry has been restocked for the most part. Still a few things that are “cooking” but mostly all there! Thank you so much for the order!
