Cues From Babies

“We would be wise to take more of our cues from beasts and babies…..”

It was a line that was running through my head as I was editing these.

I kept thinking to myself “man, wouldn’t it be awesome if I just eat my cake like this? Stick my hands in the top, smear it all over my face, maybe kick it with my feet a couple times, lean down and put my nose in it. Eat a bunch of it, until I’m full. Drink a giant glass of milk And then call it good. Run wild for a little bit. Hands in the air. Flailing. Screaming non-words. Giggling. And then crash from a sugar high on a blanket.”

You all were picturing that weren’t you?

Babies don’t know any different.

They don’t  care the cake has 1 million calories. They eat it because it tastes good. And they stop eating when they are full.

They don’t know that you aren’t supposed to make a mess out of frosting. Or get it on their hands and face and feet. They do because it’s squishy and fun.

We should be like this more often.

I love seeing the babies after a year. I love to see how they change. But what I love more…. to see how the parents change. And these two…very natural. Very easy. Very calm. Very go with the flow. They are my kind of people.

And they made one ADORABLE baby.

Happy Number 1 little one and cheers to many more to come. I hope you get to eat your cake like that every year!
