- Joy is never wrong.
- Always leave a little white space on the calendar. It’s not necessarily an accomplishment to fill it in completely. Busy isn’t a badge of honor.
- Playing in a giant pile of leaves is fun at any age. So is making snow angles. Don’t do either of them with gum in your mouth or suckers in your hand.
- Being the first on the dance floor at a wedding with a bunch of 4 year olds twirling and cutting loose like a wild banshees…it’s so freeing and builds self confidence especially with disco lights.
- Bubble gum ice cream is still the best flavor. And it’s pink or blue and turns your tongue colors… and everyone should turn their tongue different colors sometimes. Zots do the same thing. Yellow snow does not. But you should eat snow if it’s safe because that’s fun too.
- The smell of an earl grey tea bag gives me the same cozy feeling now as it did when I was 7. And the first sip …feels like a blanket.
- Black coffee is not for the weak. But it’s the best.
- If you order steak any way but medium rare… you are certainly missing out on the all the flavor.
- Be competitive, but don’t let it make you unfeeling toward your competitors. Be gracious in winning and humbled by loss.
- Baths are good at 2pm and 2am. Or anytime really. And they need to be hot enough to make you look like a lobster. They should smell good. Hot tubs do not do the same thing and they give you rashes.
- Take time to go to places that make you feel small. The ocean. The forrest. Feel small so your head doesn’t get too big.
- Expensive cars get you from point A to point B. So do really shitty cars.
- Expensive houses and inexpensive houses still give you shelter. Keeping up… doesn’t mean in things. Just running. And I don’t believe in that either.
- It’s ok to swear sometimes. It feels good.
- Your tastebuds change every 7 years, but I still can’t choke down a hamburger. Don’t worry about picky eaters. they turn out ok.
- Complaining releases the same chemicals as gossiping. They are both addictive. Try not to do either.
- Self righteousness is ugly. So is conceit. No matter how pretty you are.
- It’s not important to be important. Ever.
- You think more about yourself than other people think about you. No matter what you think. So stop thinking about what other people think about you.
- The music you listen to directly affects you.
- The people you surround yourself with directly affect you.
- Make your bed. Tie your shoes. Put lipgloss on.
- Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.
- “The only true currency in this bankrupt world is what share with someone else when you are uncool”…. be ok with being uncool even when it hurts.
- Working for something without applause, or recognition is the more rewarding almost always. Do things because you love to do them.
- Mowing the lawn barefoot is dangerous. Sometimes it’s good to live on the edge.
- Sarcasm may be considered the lowest form of wit, but it is one language I understand. Not sure what that says about me.
- Pickle soup sounds disgusting. I can assure you, it’s not.
- Priorities are your choice. Choose wisely.
- Mothers are one collective force that could dominate the world. We are the strongest by far. But collectively… we rarely think about world domination and instead we think about 3 minutes in the bathroom alone without a knock on the door.
- Don’t do drugs. Don’t drive drunk. Everyone has vices. Be aware of them and own up to them.
- Be appreciative of your youth. Enjoy it. Revel in it. Dance like a dervish. Dress inappropriately. Party. Make mistakes. But also be aware that its the time in your life where you have the most energy, the biggest ideas and the freedom to follow whatever dreams come your way. Don’t waste it. Youth is amazing. Know it before you lose it.

- Don’t dine on the drama of other people’s lives.
- If days are hard, let them teach and transform you. But don’t them keep you awake.
- There isn’t a right way to grieve. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.
- Nerds rule the world.
- Your memory is your own. You are allowed to remember events differently. Your perspective isn’t wrong. Write your story the way you want to. But make sure you like it.
- Creative people are the very hard on themselves. Comparison is a drug that kills. Find your own way. Trends are temporary. Don’t copy what someone else is already doing. While they say it’s a compliment, it’s not.
- Everyone has some sort of crazy hidden away. Everyone has hurt they don’t share. Be empathetic of that.
- See as many sunrises as you can.
- There is always good in every single day. Recognize it.
