Shortbreads and Free Download

A while back a made some shortbread cookies as Christmas gifts. I got such an awesome response from them that I decided to make them again for Valentines day.

This time though, I shaped them like hearts and just used crushed up red candies. Added a little food coloring and BAM….awesome cookies.

These cookies are by FAR the easiest ones to make. I don’t use a mixer, I just do it by hand. Plus that gives my kiddo an excuse to get his hands dirty.  And this time, I decided to Package them up nicely. I made a little topper for my bags (which you can buy at Hobby Lobby, Target, Michaels, probably Walmart (though I don’t really know) Sooo….I decided,  to share the love. If you decide to make these cookies (which you should) you can make the bag toppers too! I got the idea from another blogger. She was sharing the love as well. I thought it was an awesome idea.

First, here’s the recipe:

2 cups all-purpose flour
½ tsp. salt
¾ cup powdered sugar
1 tsp. pure vanilla extract
1 cup (2 sticks) butter, room temperature
½- ¾ cup white chocolate chips, chopped (or WHATEVER you want to put in there)

Mix flour,  powdered sugar, vanilla, butter, and
white chocolate chips just until a dough forms. Place dough on a sheet of
plastic wrap and roll together to form about a 3 inch diameter log (make
sure you try to get it really well compacted to make sure the air gets out).
Chill in the refrigerator for 30 minutes. (I just put mine in the freezer)  Preheat oven to 375*. Cut about
½“slices off and bake on a greased cookie sheet. Bake for 12 minutes, or
until edges are lightly browned. Cool on cookie sheet for 5 minutes, then
transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

**I added a tish of raspberry extract to mine and YUM!!! they were awesome.

Feel free to use these,

But please, they are only intended  for personal use.

Spread the love!!
