Think Pink

It has been all too crazy in this crazy old house of mine. Inside and out.  Over and around.  I believe the chaos is part of the fun, but I think right now there must be a different word I could use….. I need to find a word for the step above chaos.

We brought in the summer solstice with so many of our great friends. Even though the wind blew and it was of course chaotic, and I was pitching a fit a 4 year old would have right before hand, (God bless my husband for putting up with me sometimes)  it ended up to being a wonderful evening. I didn’t get any photos, I don’t even know where my camera was at the time, but imagine my backyard covered in pink flamingos. Everywhere. We all had pink to wear. Flamingos on our clothes. Flamingos everywhere.   That is how we will forever think of the first day of summer….in pink.

All the food and drinks were pink, or summer related. Like the sand pudding below. I had been wanting to make it for quite some time. I found the recipe here.  And I would dare to say… the adults like this just as much if not more than the children did. The little man and I painted the Flamingo earlier in the week. I drew and he painted. I helped a little, but he did a beautiful job. It’s oil and still drying, but I adore it and can’t wait to put it out year after year.

And by the way, if you haven’t watched yet, you should watch the documentary “The Crimson Wing“. It is wonderful. All about the lifespan of Flamingos in Africa on a magical lake. Amazing!

Happy Summer All!!!
