There once was a woman name Sue Hendrickson.
She was a paleontologist working in South Dakota, finding Edmontosaurus bones (duck billed bones)
She was on her way home, when her vehicle got a flat tire. Her group went ahead to get the spare and she stayed behind. She decided to go for a hike.
She found herself next to some cliffs where she saw a couple of tiny bones protruding near the bottom. Then she looked up a few feet.
She saw a huge rib bone and leg bone.
She had just found the largest, most complete T-rex that has ever been discovered…. and she would be called Sue.
We have been learning about dinosaurs for 5 years now. Sue has been a big part of that. We’ve been reading her story over and over again for a long time. And now was the moment to meet her.
My dino dude and I flew across the country……just to see her.
The moment had come!
And somehow, miraculously, he was a lone with her for five minutes. All alone.

We of course saw many other things while we were there. But he kept going back to her. And when the time had come to leave, he was visibly sad. He didn’t cry, but he didn’t want to leave. And he was mad at me for making him do so. We didn’t talk for several city blocks. But we finally broke down and started having more fun by the time we got to the 3rd block.
We walked all the way back downtown to our hotel (which we both loved) and on the way stopped at every single thing we could find along the way. The Bean was soooo fun. I couldn’t stop shooting it. It was hot and we were both sweating, so we made our way back to the little hotel, took a 15 minute nap and then were on our way again. To the Navy Pier.
We sat at the end of the dock for a while, watching the sail boats and all the millions of people walking around us. But were quickly on our way to our next destination..the John Hancock Observatory. It was beautiful and amazing. We stayed there until the sun almost went down. Resting our legs. That’s where we had dinner (coffee and a sandwich) and then we made our way back to our hotel….to pass out.
And because it’s about Chicago
